The Regional International Trade Office was officially opened on 25th November 2004 by Dr Denis MacShane MP, Minister for Europe.

 

RITO provides support for UK Trade & Investment and key partners to help North East businesses develop international trade.

 

  

 

One of RITO’s primary functions is the consolidation of numerous ERDF projects into one thereby significantly reducing administration and increasing efficiency. Other responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of UKTI’s ‘Passport to Export’ programme, providing financial assistance to novice exporters
  • Development of new export initiatives
  • Management of a new International Trade Hotline – first point of contact for exporters

RITO can provide information on a range of services &/or financial assistance including:

  • Passport (up to £2500 grant to assist new exporters)
  • Virtual Export Manager offers practical assistance to help you develop your international trade services
  • Financial Assistance towards international travel
  • Letters of Credit and export documentation
  • Financial assistance towards language training, translation, business culture coaching
  • Market information/research
  • Help in finding joint venture partners
  • Specialist support for selling to China
  • Trade Missions
